A few weeks ago we had a huge competition between the classes of HSM. Whomever brought the most canned foods to services over 3 weeks would get to write and record an anthem for their grade and then shoot a video for it.

This last weekend we used these two videos to teach part of the message in HSM. It is the first time we tried to integrate videos in the teaching, but I thought it went really well. Students seemed to love it and remember it.
Some awesome videos we are playing this weekend. Pretty epic promos to get our students excited for HSM’s Halloween Party. Also, continuing our high school sports recaps, where we cover our local schools sports in one minute.
Videos are huge in our services. It adds a great dynamic to the service and with this generation that we preach too, nothing gets student’s attention like video. There is something about it that just makes them quiet and so focused.

Sports Minute Vol. 4
This is a great, funny, simple video from two guys that I work with (Travis and Parker) on our weekend planning team promoting our huge Halloween party that HSM hosts every year. Pumpkinfest! When we say awesome, we really mean it. It is a fun environment to be in and it brings in a ton of students into our student building the Friday before Halloween.
Small groups is what HSM life comes out of. If HSM could only do one thing with our student ministry, it would be small groups, it is that important. This is why we push it so hard to our students because we really believe that real life change happens in small groups because they will have the strong community around them as they experience Jesus.

I think this is one of my favorite videos that the HSM weekend team has done so far. We just closed our registration for our small groups and this video was used at our small group leader training and to open our weekend services last weekend. I’m pretty sure that this is a direct transcript from one of our girls small groups. Enjoy!
If you have not seen the Korean music video “Gangnam Style“… you probably do not have a computer or a TV because it has over 200,000,000 views on Youtube, it has been on SNL, Ellen and probably has been played in every student ministry in the nation (I wouldn’t be surprised to be honest because it’s super catchy).
We just had our fall kick-off and our students wanted to do our opener with this song. They did a “translation” of the words as well. They went all out and it was so fun. So here it is:
This is one of my best friends Jeremiah Mullins. We worked together at Christ’s Church of the Valley in San Dimas and we also lived together for 2 years. We shared a bunk bed as 23 year old men. I’m not ashamed to admit it. He’s in my wedding in 2 months. Love this guy with all my heart.
He just got hired at LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma as the Associate Worship Pastor on their main campus. This video is from of their worship experiences that they record for their satellite campuses as they wait for their live feed. It’s pretty incredible. Needless to say, I’m super proud of him on following where God has called him to go. He’s killing it out there and this video proves it.

Here is my message from a few weeks ago for Saddleback HSM. This is one of four Saddleback Church high school ministry services. This series was called Hollywood Jesus and we would take some of our favorite movies and pull Biblical truths out of them. I did the Lion King and talked about how we live out the song “I Just Cant Wait To Be King” and how we build our own selfish kingdoms rather than living in God’s.

Our summer camp this year was one of the best times I have ever had at any camp. It was my first camp with HSM at Saddleback and we partnered up with CIY (Christ in Youth, check them out HERE). We combined forces to put on this amazing week for both students and leaders and it was amazing to hear the stories of life change.
