Archives For Ignite Conference

This week is going to be a pretty exciting week. It’s going to epic for a couple of reasons. A couple of reasons in which I would love and appreciate some prayers.

1. This week is Saddleback HSM’s Fall Kick Off. This is our service going into the school year in which students are encouraged and invite their friends who normally do not come to church. This is a service where we go a little bigger than usual, but the message is full of hope. There are going to be hundreds of students who have not been been to our church before and prayer for them to know Jesus and keep coming back to see who He is.

2. This week is also the Ignite Conference. If you don’t know what that is, check it out HERE, but it is just a little something I got the privilege to be asked to be apart of. Basically, some pastor friends of mine put together these nights in which we invite all of the youth groups and young adult groups in the area in hopes to try and break down walls between ministries, trying to show our students that they are not the only group doing what they are doing. Trying to get all of them under one roof to worship together, get some great teaching and encouragement. This whole night is free, it’s fun, and powerful. We are working with as many pastors and worship leaders from different churches to put this night on. The Ignite team would love prayer for 1) for there to be a ridiculous amount of groups and people there and 2) pray for the hundreds and hundreds of people who have already told us they are coming. I won’t be able to be there because we have our Fall Kick Off at Saddleback, but the rest of the team will kill it that night.

If you can join me for the hundreds of people who will hear the Gospel for the first time and for both nights to go amazingly smooth, both Saddleback HSM and the Ignite teams would appreciate it so much. Thank you and love and pray for you all.

I would consider myself a bridge builder. I absolutely love connecting with other people and forming brand new relationships from people I just met. Especially when it comes to other people in ministry. I love to talk and learn from other people because I feel like it can watch and learn from other pastor’s and ministries. I understand that this is some people’s personalities and it is not some people’s natural instincts to go out and talk to people they do not know and start a relationship with a complete stranger. But this is something we all need to learn to do because it is vital to ministry.

To many of us are so stand-offish towards other ministries. They are them, we are us and that is where it is going to stay. But how effective is that really? We may be doing great ministry in our area, but someone else could be doing it “better” and together you would be unstoppable. Imagine the damage to the enemy if pastors from different churches joined forces every once in a while to put on huge outreach or discipleship nights where we raise up the next generation to show them that the ministry that they are involved in is not the only one in the area doing what they are doing!

It might not be everyone’s niche to be bridge builders of other ministries, but it is something that needs to be learned. I believe Jesus did not intend for a ministry to be an “island”, doing it’s own thing and that’s it. In Mark 6, Jesus sends out the disciples two by two, he sent them out together to do ministry in His name.

Mark 6:6-13

Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.

These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

This is something that a few great friends and pastors are trying to do with this conference for all the local churches in the area. Trying to get as many high school and young adults together from many ministries for one night under one roof to be encouraged and learn about God to ignite their passion for Jesus.

Really think about it. Think about what could happen if churches combined on some events. We need to partner up just like Jesus partnered up the disciples before sending them out. Join us?

What events have you combined with other churches?

I am pretty excited to announce that I will be teaming up with some of my favorite people from a few different churches, from a few different student ministries, for a great night of worship here in September. Like I posted yesterday, there are no “others” in ministry. It is US, united. I have always wanted to partner up with other pastors and create a night where many groups, from all over, can come to one place and be encouraged that they are not alone, that other churches are doing great things as well, and groups can come together and worship.

In comes IGNITE. This is a team of pastors of a few local churches in the area who want to break the mold of “independent” groups by UNITING students and IGNITING the passion of Jesus inside.

This is not a ONE church thing. It happens to be at ONE church. But joining our groups together in worship is the first step in uniting our next generation of leaders from many churches in one place to first IGNITE their relationship with Jesus so they can unashamedly claim Him as Savior to the world. IGNITE exists to ignite a generation with a passion for Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit to live transformed lives, to accomplish the will of the Father.

It’s a FREE session on September 8th, 2012, to start this journey of breaking down youth group barriers and start to join and work together. I would hope you would want to jump in. Here is a recap of last year:
